About#

The Autism-Informed Gastrointestinal Symptoms Form is a 55-item caregiver-report measure of gastrointestinal symptoms over the past month, rated on a 5-point scale (0 = never a problem to 4 = almost always a problem). Domains include stomach pain, discomfort with eating, feeding selectivity, swallowing, reflux, nausea and vomiting, gas and bloating, constipation, rectal bleeding, diarrhea, and behavioral indicators of GI distress. It was developed for this study because standard pediatric GI instruments, including the Rome IV, rely on criteria that presuppose the child can verbally report internal sensations such as pain and nausea. A substantial proportion of this cohort is minimally verbal or non-verbal, and GI discomfort is often expressed through observable changes in behavior, mood, eating, and sleep. This is an original, non-validated instrument. It does not generate Rome IV diagnoses and is included as an exploratory, non-endpoint measure.
